Below are a handful of smaller projects and explorations from various work experiences, highlighting motion design and other creative work. Some of them shipped, while others were explorations for future-facing concepts.
Trayd Time Tracking Flow
A snippet of my freelance work with Trayd, a time-tracking and money management tool for construction workers. This flow showcases the UX of clocking in and out of a job and immediately cashing out the money earned during that job.
Hipcamp Login Screen
A redesigned app login screen to promote Hipcamp’s updated branding, various unique supply types, and single sign on options for simplying account creation.
Lightbox Redesign
An improved video watching exploration with category tags, team links, and helpful hierarchy aided by swift and purposeful animation.
Share the Score
This feature involved redesigning the experience when a user taps the “share” button on a game page. Prior to this point, 7% of users were tapping this button, and it simply took a screenshot of the page. So, we redesigned the flow to promote creativity, fan voice, and social sharing. This new process allowed users to share the score of the game, along with a photo and some text, to their messaging and social media platforms.
Game Win Celebration
A fun and welcoming confetti animation to celebrate when a user’s favorite team wins a game. This feature was part of a larger goal to promote fandom and team affinity throughout the app.
Shareable Stat Cards
In an effort to turn interesting facts/stats from a game into shareable cards, I put together a system to be easily and quickly built by our eng team.
Social Streaming
A fun exploration to showcase what types of user engagement might be feasible while watching a game on your phone. For instance, in order to enhance the mobile viewing experience, I explored a “cheer-o-meter” allowing users to feel the energy of being in a stadium while watching a game with friends from home. The other example is a polling feature, allowing users to quickly analyze plays, ref calls, etc. throughout a game to feel as if they are participating in the action along with other fans.
Yahoo Sports Rush
An exploration for a daily news digest (morning + evening) that delivers a bundle of sports news in a fun and engaging 6-story package with a surprise moment of delight at the end, utilizing our existing stories platform.
NFL Play By Play Animation
In the Yahoo Sports App’s previous design, the play-by-play for a live game was choppy and confusing. I worked on this animation to better help users visualize big plays (eg touchdowns), ball movement, possession, drive duration, and other related plays, combined with instant highlight replays. The added purposeful animation was intended to be a feasible guideline for our engineering team to build out.
Fantasy App Welcome Video
Improving the static welcome screen that existed at the time with a video that conveys the intensity and fun of the Yahoo Fantasy Sports brand.
Fantasy Touchdown
An exploration to convey the potential of live-game highlights for a fantasy user. Once the play is made, the user’s score adjusts and they can watch the play right from their phone with a personalized video to celebrate the win.
